    attention was dedicated to the energy security of Southeast Europe industry collaboration in sustainable development innovative renewable energy technologies activities aimed at establishing regional collaboration on relevant innovation R D and production capacities in countries lying within Western Balkan area thus enabling them to build an economically sustainable industry of the future State of the art of R D identification of promising emerging technology options case studies on development and application of renewable energy technologies assessment related to potentials in developing countries and collection of information on local initiatives programmes and regional scientific collaboration through ongoing joint projects were the main topics covered by the Conference Several presentations delivered by the participants were focused on important topics such as 1 energy and water efficiency for sustainable future 2 General development trends and sustainability aspects of renewable energy technologies 3 Academia industry collaboration in sustainable development 4 Energy planning 5 Energy system analysis 6 life cycle assessment 7 biofuels and biorefineries 8 Regional planning and cooperation 9 cogeneration and district heating 10 Country reports potentials and case studies on waste valorization in selected developing countries and 11 programmes of international institutions aimed at promotion of sustainable development in developing countries Many presentations highlighted the absolute inadequacy of energy infrastructure in their countries with extremely low per capita consumption that in no way is comparable with those in the West It was a common opinion that effective and efficient utilization of renewable resources available in abundance could certainly help alleviate problems concerning both food and energy supply safeguard environment with better heath conditions and creation of job thus having positive impact on the socio economic development of the less developed countries During the conference it emerged that in spite of the quite matured technologies available mainly due to lack of legislation strong government policy and plans of action on energy production mix including renewable solar wind biofuels especially in most African countries their spread is still very low Needless to say that for much needed technological advancement and genetic engineering lots of research work still needs to be done Also the conference supported a more intensive cultivation of energy crops such as cassava bioethanol and jatropha which grows in marginal lands and produces an inedible oil that can be converted into biodiesel Key role to be played by local companies in building relationships with established companies in the sector to attract foreign investment and create industrial sites was clearly underlined Despite the large amount of work to be done to bridge the infrastructure gap academia and industry are disconnected and this disharmony contributing to delay implementation of the energy plans of such countries In this context creation of more and stronger partnerships between public institutions research and private institutions in the fields and possible support both scientific and financial from the international organizations such like EU UNESCO UNIDO to support such actions was highly recommended Follow up actions Recommendations In view of sustainable development ability to create jobs promote rural development improve

    Italy and for the enlargement of its competences through the introduction of new young resources Two economic projects were used to finance these targets The Agreement MURST Italian Ministry of University ENEA for the actuation of an intervention program in the Centre of Italy with the funds of the Legislation 64 1986 The Structural Funds of the EU project 1994 1999 For the strengthening of Trisaia Intesa Mezzogiorno has decided to realize a series of projects that are going to be concluded allowing the Centre to be equipped with remarkable infrastructures with research labs with advanced equipments and instruments and with experimental high technology pilot plants for a total value of about 72 millions of euros which will be partially used also for areas outside the Centre various sites in Calabria Further investments have been provided by the EU Project of Substain 94 99 and have allowed the realization of some demonstrative centres for the application of innovative systems and technologies for a global value of about 50 millions per year Today Trisaia represents under a programming point of view one of the few Italian centres equipped to do R D on an engineering and preindustrial scale on a huge variety of activities Advanced engineering for the eco sustainable development Advanced technical and scientific services Integrated innovation centres Activity of conditioning of nuclear waste coming from the reprocessing campaigns of the exhausted combustible Trisaia is also the operative and legal premise of some participated companies Consortiums TRAIN TRE CALEF PROCOMP Navigation Trisaia in figures How to reach us Visit the Research Centre Naturalistic aspects The archaeological site Virtual tour EMAS registration 50 years of research from nuclear energy to the green economy News 10th Conference on Sustainable Development of Energy Water and Environment Systems Oct 22 2015 More news The
