    field is particularly significant in the reality of the southern regions indicating a delay in the dissemination of innovative industrial processes is for economic reasons linked to the cost of construction technology both for cultural reasons Business sectors and innovative aspects The main lines of activities carried out include development and testing of laser technologies for applications in machining and processing of materials qualification of the laser welding process through trial microstructural characterization mechanical behavior and performed in the laboratory feasibility analysis and consulting services to companies for the introduction of innovative processes with laser technology The experimental laboratory for laser applications in an integrated manner makes it possible to cover a wide range of processes in power applications cut proven technology of metallic and ceramic materials up to the order of 10 15 mm thickness Welding technology growing with and without filler metal on stainless aluminum and titanium in thicknesses up to 10 15 mm surface treatment technology in the introductory phase discloses hard materials consisting of steel and titanium Collaboration and support to other Organizations As part of the consortium activities CALEF who runs the laser laboratory the main results so far are innovative solutions for the construction of rail steel panels using laser technology studies of applications of the optical beam in aluminum alloys for aerospace and naval achievements welding of structural components used in the aeronautics sector development of components and auxiliary equipment welding of structural steel and cutting shapes for parabolic solar concentrators training activities in collaboration with other research organizations Among the current and future activities those particularly significant are experiments on cutting of stainless steel carbon and titanium extended to different thicknesses research on welding of thin titanium alloys study of surface processes recast carry thin nitrided titanium alloy made with plasma spray
